Engine
The engine was a air cooled twin, four-stroke. A 73.0 x 59.6 mm (2.9 x 2.3 inches) stroke result in a displacement of just 499.00 ccm (30.45 cubic inches). The engine features a 8.5:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).
Drive
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.
Chassis
It came with a 3.25-19 front tire and a 4.00-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The XS500 is fitted with a 15.00 litres (3.96 gallons) fuel tank.

Got it - 1976 Yamaha TX500. A dohc 8 valve twin with balance shaft. In the UK this was marketed as the XS500 ,it had very similar 'Old British' styling to the contemporary XS650.In later years it got modern squared off styling.
