Engine

The engine was a air cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 57.0 x 51.8 mm (2.2 x 2.0 inches) stroke result in a displacement of just 528.00 ccm (32.22 cubic inches). The engine features a 9.5:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.

Chassis

It came with a 3.00-19 front tire and a 110/90-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a expanding brake in the rear. The XJ550 is fitted with a 15.00 litres (3.96 gallons) fuel tank.
