The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.
It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 3.50-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The RD400 is fitted with a 16.50 litres (4.36 gallons) fuel tank.
