Ural M-63 in Movies
Saving Private Ryan
I think it might be a russian IMZ-URAL. Ural M-63 or M-66. It has rear swing-arm suspension, so the year is from 1963. notice the burned appearance of this combo? its the same machine which was blown up in the 1979 Harrison Ford movie "Hanover Street". Ils sont pénibles à faire des films aussi mal fait! en plus de l'oural, allez voir le site des erreurs de films, le soldat ryan en est plein This is not M-63 and not M-66. This is M-61 "Irbit", cause i have one of them =) Edited: Sorry, my mistake - M-61 have another fuel tank, it's M-63 .
They really should have used a Chinese built Chang Jiang; a BMW R71 clone. The Chang Jiang is almost identical to the BMW R71, and much more period than a Russian M-63. Is this supposed to be an R75? As it's far from one. I rode a Chang Jiang for 12 years and easily converted it to an R71 by remounting the front fender, simplifying the air filter, and adding BMW emblems and a period tail-lamp. They spent a lot of money to build a German "Tiger," only to have Captain Miller die against to a post-war Russian motorcycle? My only fault to this masterpiece of a film, that I take personally.

looks like, but is not a BMW I more to a Dnierp Likely, as they were sold here in the 90ies. The Ural, too. Imported by a private garagist. I thought that was a BMW, because in a picture is viewable what for me seemed to be the BMW logo. On the other hand, I know less than nothing about bikes and I leave to recognize it to the experts. thanks ElSaxo! engine is a 750 OHV and I think Ural What a rip-off anyway, in the scene they said that was forgotten by the Schutzstaffeln towards the end of the WWII... ..which is pure bullshit. fine, I learn a new word: bullshit sure I have a good night Ural M63
action concept-Logik eben
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
BMW? I might be wrong, but I'd say Ural IMZ instead, due to the size of the front light and the shape of the tank.
Yes, this is Ural M-63

I'm quite sure, that this is something post-war. Chrome-rims weren't usual before 1950. And it's not original either. By shape and style of the front and the fuel-tank, it's in the "Café Racer"-style of the late 60ies. In the 30ies and 40ies there weren't definetely any motorbikes "tuned up" like that one. I do not know how to make this link work, but one picture on this site resembles that same bike, I think. Pity it does not state what it is ! Link to "moto.allegro.pl" Could it be an older Ural/Dnjepr ? The Boxer engine seems quite "BMW-ish"...
That's a Ural M63 with different front mudguard and dual seat bodge fitted. http://www.velodrom-millenaris.eu/velodrom_millenaris/jarmu/borbely_ural_1965.jpg
Red Dwarf EP: 7.2
BMW bikes perhaps? In the DVD Cast Commentary, Chris Barrie (Ace Rimmer) refers to the "baddies on the BMs". BMW? Avec le liséré sur le réservoir, ça m'étonnerait fort... On parie sur une Chinoise? Avec ce liséré sur le réservoir, ça ressemble à une Dnepr actuelle... Looks like a BMW R71 boxer. ça ressemble beaucoup à du 650 soviétique the R71 has another cylinder So what is this, Ralph? Ural (can be a 650)
It's a Ural (IMZ) M-63 or M66
