The engine was a air cooled twin, four-stroke. A 60.0 x 44.2 mm (2.4 x 1.7 inches) stroke result in a displacement of just 250.00 ccm (15.26 cubic inches). The engine features a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).


The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.


It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 3.75-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake in the rear. The GSX250 is fitted with a 14.00 litres (3.70 gallons) fuel tank.
