Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled twin, four-stroke. A 73.0 x 59.6 mm (2.9 x 2.3 inches) stroke result in a displacement of just 499.00 ccm (30.45 cubic inches). The engine features a 10.5:1 compression ratio.

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.

Chassis

Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a 41mm telescopic fork, 120mm axle travel while the rear was equiped with a monoshock damper with 7-step adjustable preload, 125mm axle travel The CBF500 is fitted with a 19.00 litres (5.02 gallons) fuel tank. The bike weighs just 186.0 kg (410.1 pounds). The wheelbase is 1,480 mm (58.3 inches) long.
