Ridden by John Grant (Josh Lucas), Red Dog's true master. The character was loosely based on the original Red's second owner, John Stazzonelli (1948-1975) who met Red in 1972 when he started working for Hamersley Iron as the company's bus driver, he was killed when his motorcycle had hit a rock at high speeds and had caused him to come off his bike at a T intersection on the 23rd July 1975, just 200 metres from where Red's stature stands. After his death, John's body was taken back to be buried in his hometown in Northampton, Western Australia next to his mother, Winifred (1922-1975) who died four months earlier.
