Harley-Davidson Duo Glide in Movies
The Andy Griffith Show EP: 1.02
Duo Glide ou Hydra Glide
Notice the License Plate on The NC State Police lead car as it brings in it's prisoner. "DC-269" Same License Plate as used on the 1960 First Season's 1st Mayberry Patrol Car.
Jerry Cotton - Dynamit in grüner Seide
Harley-Davidson FL Duo Glide Police as built between 1958 and 1965
Where The Boys Are
Electra Glides didn't exist until 1965; these are 58-60 Duo Glides.
Harley Hydra Glide ou Duo Glide ???
With the blue and white tank it may be later than 1958 - maybe 1961? Francisharley - any clues?
Route 66 EP: 3.14
Hard to say from this angle whether or not it is the new Electra Glide that appeared in 1964.
In that case I doubt it, since this episode was originally broadcast December 21, 1962.
Route 66 EP: 1.03
The fin of a 1960 Dodge Polara is just visible to the right.
I never could get a good shot of that Dodge, but that's what it is all right.
La grande sauterelle
Harley-Davidson... Ancienne, mais laquelle? Indian? Harley WLA 750??? Shovel
Because this was probably filmed before 1967, I suspect these bikes are much earlier. I would say that they are panhead Duo Glides.
Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round
The Electra Glide only began the year before so these are more likely to be Duo Glides.
Blague dans le coin
I can just see the shiny tool boxes on the right hand side of these bikes which makes them 1958-9 Harley-Davidson Duo-Glides.
Policie Modrava EP: 6
Looks like an old Harley logo on the gas tank.
Suspension front and rear so a Duo Glide.
Green Acres EP: 1.24+
Same seen in Episode: 1.20 also with 2 1958 or later DuoGlide police bike. I am not familiar enough with the detail differences to put an exact date on it.
This episode was first broadcast March 16, 1966, if that helps with dating the bike. This looks like it would be recent at the time the show was filmed.
Matthew Blackheart: Monster Smasher
Appears to have rear suspension so no earlier than about 1958. Drum front brake so late 1950s/early 1960s. I think we usually call these Duo Glide.
The Queen's State Visit to Iran
Nice are the two blue convertible 1958 and 1957 Chrysler in the background. Worth listing for me. The side of the '58 is visible in another photo, namely the main one of the Rolls.
H-D Duo Glide.
11.22.63 EP: 8
FL Duo Glide?
Dallas 'Union Station' in background, they are turning onto Houston St,I think they are turning off of Wood St....which means they'd 'really' be going the wrong way on a one way?
Rocambole contra la secta del escorpión
Harley-Davidson FL Duo Glide as built from 1958 to 1965
How about a page for the 1964 Plymouth Savoy 4-door sedan in the center of the pic? I agree.
Because this is pre 1965, these bikes will be Duo Glides.
The Twilight Zone EP: 5.18
On the right. These look like Harleys not Indians, front brake is on the wrong side and the mudguard looks Harley. They look like Harley Davidson Duo Glide's from around '60 "The Leather Jackets" (1964)
This is the used by the character named "Scott" and actually gets a little more screen time than the other two bikes.
on the right.. Electra Glide? Vraisemblablement...
This movie is 1961 so this one is a Duo Glide not an Electra Glide.
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. EP: 4.18
Duo Glide ou Electra Glide?? Difficile à différencier
I forgot to post it but there's a Duo-Glide two episodes earlier, so it's probably that one.
The Thrill of It All
It's an old Harley-Davidson Police Special. Panhead, maybe?
Harley Panhead yes. It has rear suspension so is a Duoglide 1958 or later. I wonder if it is a real cop bike as it has no panniers etc.
The Andy Griffith Show EP: 2.21
Seven Days in May
The Electra Glide model only began in 1965 - Electra referred to the electric start. These will be Duo Glides.
Mission: Impossible EP: 1.12
The Hydra Glide was the model from 1949 with telescopic front forks but a rigid rear end. With the introduction of rear suspension in 1958 it became the Duo Glide. In 1965 the addition of an electric starter made it an Electra Glide. This bike is probably a Duo Glide.
"Frontera Border" - of what countries?
Absolutely Fabulous EP: 1.5
Pas un modèle très récent, celle-là... Not recent indeed ... Electra or Hydra Glide? Road King? boh ... HD aren't my thing
1958/1964 HD Duo Glide. Not 57 or earlier because it ain't a rigid. Not 65 because it's not an Electra glide.
La morte accarezza a mezzanotte
Rare Seat 850 sport spider in the background (this shot is in Madrid). It's a Duo-Glide (Panhead) 62-64.
Harley-Davidson FL Duo Glide
JFK died in 1963. The Electra Glide was released in 1965
Reminder: In 1965 Harley-Davidson equips the Duo Glide with an electric starter that becomes the Electra glide
Get Smart EP: 3.11
Harley Davidson FL Duo Glide as built from 1958 to 1965
It became the Electra Glide when an electric starter was added in late '65 & the front fender was changed to the way it looks today.
Der König von St. Pauli EP: 2
Maybe a Harley made up to look like something else?? I don't know what though.
H-D Duo-Glide, the pillion seat belongs on something Wehrmacht or Soviet.
Harley-Davidson Hydra Glide ou Duo Glide, moteur Panhead
I think it's Harley Davidson FL Duo Glide, built between 1958 and 1965, because of the sahpe of the toolbox, Hydra Glides have a lower, longer box and Duo Glides have a taller upright box.
Zapruder Film of Kennedy Assassination
I'm tempted to say an Electra-Glide, but I have no proof. I don't believe the Electra Glide was introduced until 1965. These were probably either Hydra Glides or Duo Glides. EDIT: At least one commentator has identified the bikes as 1963-1964 Harley FL Duo Glides. http://www.paulseaton.com/jfk/acoustics/houston/Speed.htm
Okay, so let's take this off the "unknown" list.
Un homme est mort
Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glide It may seems mid 60's model if this two-tone color is original.
Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glide (1961-64 from tank emblem) Another bike (without chrome wheel cover) is FL Duo Glide of same years.
Woman Times Seven
Moto Guzzi? I think more HD Francisharley! help!
Magnum, P.I. EP: 6.06
The centre bike looks to have hand gear shift maybe an older DuoGlide?
Gidget EP: 1.28
Harley-Davidson Duo or Electra Glide, Francisharley, help! Difficile de faire la différence
A panhead without a battery box......Duo Glide
The Rebel Set
Harley Davidson I think but I am not an expert...! I think I can see a rear spring/shock. Hence Duo-Glide?
Yes it's Duo Glide
Mission: Impossible EP: 1.08
Harley-Davidson 1958 on.
It has a panhead engine so it is no later than 1965. Maybe a customised Duo-Glide?
I have looked through a few Harley pics and as we all know 1958 was the first year with rear suspension - making the Hydra Glide into a Duo Glide - and the chrome tool box seems to be gone from 1960 onwards. I think if this was called a 1958 Harley-Davidson Duo Glide you won't be far wrong.
Harley Davidson.. Electra Glide? No Electra Glides until 1965. I think I see signs of rear suspension so Duo Glide.
Honey West EP: 1.14
Duo or Electra Glide ? Looks like the Duo Glide emblem in the third pic.
Harley Davidson Duo Glide as built between 1958 and 1964, it has a black pressed steel primary drive cover in stead of the polished aluminium drive case on the Electra Glide
The Lucy Show EP: 5.15
Sûrement Duo Glide
A 1958 Harley-Davidson Duo Glide because of the panhead motor.
The Deadly Mantis
Kawasaki KZ 1000 Police?
The Kennedy Assassination: 24 Hours After
1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan presidential limousine first used by Truman and retired in 1965.
That already has its page. This is for the bike.
(sorry Jun..this is the best shot I could get.!)
Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glide (1958-) Duo Glide is from '58. 'Duo' means 'with rear swing arm suspension' (...tank emblem seems FLH from '59...but leave it)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Moteur Panhead (produit de 1948 à 1965) Is this the only shot we have of this bike? It is possible that it is earlier than 1957 and would then not be a Duo-Glide. Yes, it was the only view.
you can clearly see the rear shock and strut in this shot......Duo
- FL Duo Glide
- FLH Duo Glide
