Engine

The engine was a Air cooled cooled Four stroke, two cylinder horizontally opposed Boxer, pushrod operated 2 valves per cylinder.. A 72 x 73 mm stroke result in a displacement of just 594 cc / 36.2 cu in. The engine features a 7.5:1 compression ratio.

Chassis

It came with a 3.50 - S18 front tire and a 3.50 - S18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via ∅200mm Drum in the front and a ∅200mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic hydraulic forks while the rear was equiped with a Long swinging arm with strut The R 60/2 is fitted with a 17 L / 4.49 US gal. fuel tank.

The plane is a Canadair DC-4M2 North Star, the Canadian built improved version of the Douglas DC-4.

We have many BMWs of this era on the site and it is well known that their appearance changed little from 1955 to 1971. Also there is little difference between the various models - R50, R60, R69s. The only clue - whether it is correct I don't know - is here - /vehicle_10446-BMW-R-60.html - where there is a comment that the police used R60s through the 1960s. I guess the bike here is likely to be an R60.

with an unlikely bullhorn handlebar. rather funny for a police bike. Usually these handlebars were mounted on punks bikes!

BMW R50/2 or R60/2 (1960-69) French Gendarmerie usually drove R60/2s. To be sure we would have to count the cooling fins on the cylinders, but the photo quality doesn't allow this.

It is a fake gendarmerie anyway. The gendarmerie plaque is a forgery, flatshape whereas real ones were roundish. Plus the handlebars blinkers are japanese (honda cub) and not the original hella ones.
